From Dream to Reality: ON Saturday March 21, 2020, Harwood Junior Badminton Centre is hosting a tournament for both adults (16 an over) and youth (under 16) with the purpose of raising funds to support the training efforts of NYL YAKURA, a young male athlete who will in all likelihood, represent Canada at the 2020 Olympics in badminton. Nyl started his play at Harwood, a small school-based badminton club in Ajax, Ontario and was a most exciting youngster who won many titles at district and provincial junior events and had a remarkable career within COBA for that time. Early on, Nyl had a dream to represent Canada and compete at the Olympics so he moved on to Mandarin Badminton Club where the training could be more intensive and individualized and again, represented Mandarin, Ontario and Canada in many events. Recently Nyl moved to train at KC Badminton Club where his athletic career continues to flourish – today Nyl is a member of Canada’s national team and working toward the 2020 Olympics, the fulfillment of his dream long ago.
